In 2002 Encana pledged a record $1.25 million to Alberta Ecotrust. $250,000 was invested in the creation of the Small Communities Initiative, now named the Community Resource Fund, the remaining $1 million was pledged over 25 years.

Alberta Ecotrust’s focus on collaboration and capacity building to address environmental challenges aligns well with our own approach – creating meaningful and mutually-beneficial partnerships to resolve issues. Recognizing that some stakeholders have concerns with energy development in and around the province, it is essential that we work alongside our peers and other organizations to share knowledge, foster dialogue and ultimately improve our environmental performance.
