Alberta Ecotrust is seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Directors
Alberta Ecotrust is growing and we are seeking a new Treasurer who is up to the challenge to join our Board of Directors.
The Treasurer will oversee the evolving financial matters of Alberta Ecotrust in line with good practice, legal accountability and compliance, and generally accepted accounting principles, especially for nonprofits. The Treasurer will ensure the overall direction and control of the finances for the Foundation are sound, work closely with senior management to ensure effective financial policies, measures, controls and procedures are in place and maintained, and report to the board of directors at regular intervals about the financial health of the organization. The Treasurer will also chair the Finance Committee.
Alberta Ecotrust is a registered charity and has been operating since 1992. With a current annual budget expected to triple over the next few years, plus significant assets to manage, we need the right person – someone who understands the nonprofit landscape as well as the tenets of financial and investment management, is experienced with governance, and is also passionate about our mission to inspire and mobilize those who champion the environment. The current position description can be found here.
A Treasurer with previous experience on a charitable board, and who understands and supports the role and value of charities in Canadian society is desired. Alberta Ecotrust works collaboratively across Alberta, and increasingly across Canada, with a range of partners to invest in community-led environmental projects, convene stakeholders and interested parties on priority issues, and build the capacity of those interested in cross-sectoral solutions to environmental problems.
