ALBERTA ECOTRUST IS SEEKING FINANCIALLY SAVVY PEOPLE TO JOIN OUR INVESTMENT COMMITTEE
Alberta Ecotrust is growing and we are seeking individuals up to the challenge of overseeing and stewarding our assets to join our Investment Committee.
Guided by a vision of healthy ecosystems for all Albertans, Alberta Ecotrust is a long-standing and critical source of funding, training and skill-building for Alberta’s environmental community. We were founded almost thirty years ago on the principles of fostering and maintaining collaboration and trust between companies and environmental nonprofits. Our programs build bridges and support collaborative leadership and high impact initiatives. We believe everyone has a role to play in creating a sustainable future, and we actively work across sector boundaries with those who share our vision.
This year, Alberta Ecotrust will receive $4OM from the federal government to launch new programs in Calgary and Edmonton focused on reducing urban greenhouse gas emissions as part of Low Carbon Cities Canada (LC3). LC3 is a network of seven urban centres across Canada, led by community partners and supported by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM). Alberta Ecotrust, in support of the City of Calgary and the City of Edmonton’s climate goals, will manage two $20M endowments in perpetuity that support the work of local programming to identify, invest in, and scale up carbon reduction solutions. Our intention is to grow the size of the fund substantially over the next 10 years in order to deploy maximum dollars from investment returns to high impact initiatives.
For Alberta Ecotrust, the federal investment in the LC3 Centres in Calgary and Edmonton represents a significant expansion of our investment potential. We are seeking the support of community members from Calgary or Edmonton with expertise in finance, securities, and portfolio management, impact investing, ESG objectives, and entrepreneurship to support our Board of Directors in effectively stewarding Alberta Ecotrust’s assets under management.
