Celebrate World Rivers Day with a Donation to Protect our Environment
World Rivers Day is a celebration of the world’s waterways, highlighting the many values of rivers and strives to increase public awareness and encourages the improved stewardship of rivers around the world. Rivers are a part of our communities. We cannot impact our local river systems without ultimately impacting our own health and well-being. These issues are not solely river issues, they are issues for human communities and for the future generations.
Alberta Ecotrust awards grants in our environmental issue priority area of water to ensure local, Alberta organizations are empowered to help protect, conserve and maintain water quality.
We share your concern about the availability and quality of water. Industrial, agricultural and residential demands for water continue to increase and put pressure on the health and integrity of our rivers and lakes. Recent floods, and the potential long term influence of climate change, have renewed conversations about ecosystem health, cumulative effects, and how to plan for the future of Alberta watersheds.
Water problems are complex. We need new forms of solutions.
Our Grant Program supports work like the Heart River Water Restoration Project, the Weaselhead Ring Road Impact Study, the Bighill Creek Preservation Society Watershed Study, and Project Blue Thumb – a social lab initiative working in the Red Deer River Watershed, taking action on water quality issues.
Together we’ll turn brilliant ideas into positive community projects that protect our environment for all Albertans! Today, on World Rivers Day, show your support with a donation to ensure this innovative work continues.
