Sheri-D Wilson is Poet Laureate of Calgary (2018-2020).

Sheri-D is the award-winning author of eleven books, the creator of four short films, and four albums which combine music and poetry.

She is known for her electric performance-style, making her a favorite of festivals around the world. Sheri-D has read, performed & taught in festivals across Canada, USA, UK, France, Spain, Belgium, Mexico, and South Africa.

In 2017, she received her Doctor of Letters—Honoris Causa from Kwantlen University. Other awards include: The City of Calgary Arts Award, The Stephan G. Stephansson Award for Poetry, Heavyweight Champion of USA.

Sheri-D is a strong advocate for Social Change and Community Building. She has served as a founder or director for: The Calgary Spoken Word Society (2003- 2019), The Calgary Spoken Word Festival (2004-2015), Spoken Word Program and The Banff Centre (2005-2012).



Reflecting The Environmental Gathering

Look for Calgary’s Poet Laureate Sheri-D Wilson in sessions throughout the Environmental Gathering. Sheri-D will be using the dynamic conversations and creative collisions at the event to inspire a poetic reflection of our two days of work together. She’ll perform this new piece of poetry to close the Environmental Gathering.
