When OR isn’t enough: Conservation AND Production on Agricultural Lands
In a world facing increased demand on food production, it is no longer sufficient to set aside reserves for nature, dichotomizing conservation or industry. We need to find a way to do both: conservation AND production.
In partnership with farmers and ranchers, ALUS Canada is exploring new opportunities to allow nature and agriculture to coexist, using payments for ecosystem services as a market mechanism. How can we collectively develop the markets for ecosystem services to achieve UN Sustainable Development Goals? We’ll explore the opportunities and challenges of deploying projects on the ground which allow us to move beyond conservation to production.
This workshop is co-hosted with Christine Campbell, Western Hub Manager for ALUS Canada.
