Liam Smedley

Program Specialist, Retrofit Accelerator

Liam’s upbringing involved plenty of canoeing and camping in the outdoors, which planted the seed early on for his passion for sustainability and protecting the environment. Guided by his values in environmentalism and a curiosity for architecture, he earned his bachelor's degree in Architectural Conservation and Sustainability Engineering from Carleton University.

With over three years of experience in the building science and construction industry, his expertise focuses primarily on the assessment, investigation and rehabilitation of building envelopes. He is a Certified Passive House Designer® (CPHD®) with the Passivhaus Institut and a registered Engineer-in-Training with APEGA. He is particularly passionate about systems change, climate-resilient buildings and deep retrofits.

Outside of the office, you will find Liam spending his time camping, running, canoeing and kayaking in the Bow Valley’s mountains and rivers. His happy place is in a canoe floating down a river with friends and only the height of the sun to tell the time of day.
