The Alberta Coalition for Watershed Security is working to restore and protect Alberta’s watersheds through coordinated advocacy, capacity-building and long-term systems change.

Steered by Alberta Ecotrust Foundation, the Coalition is guided by a broad network of organizations and experts contributing knowledge, experience and strategic insight.

The Coalition's Vision

A trusted coalition advancing watershed security in Alberta by aligning science, policy and people; amplifying shared efforts and unlocking lasting investment for future generations.

The Coalition's Mission

We bring together Alberta’s water and nature-based solutions community to unlock stronger long-term investments, effective policy and amplify collective action. We advance watershed security, climate resilience and a renewed relationship with water alongside land stewards, rights-holders and decision-makers.

Why this work matters

Our watersheds are facing increasing demands from population growth, land and resource development, and changing climate conditions, contributing to floods, droughts and wildfires that have cost over $4 billion since 2020. These challenges affect not only water security, but also the forests, fish, wildlife and food systems that support the quality of life, livelihoods and cultural traditions across the province.
