Across Alberta, innovative ventures are developing the technologies and solutions needed to reduce emissions, but many face barriers to growth. At Alberta Ecotrust, we are working to address this gap through a new partnership with Spring and its Scale Ready program. Together, we are supporting climate ventures in becoming investment-ready, strengthening the province’s innovation ecosystem, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Spring’s Scale Ready program supports early-stage ventures at a critical stage of growth by helping founders develop capital strategies, understand financing options and prepare to engage with investors, while also providing customized support from experts and access to key networks.
“Supporting climate solutions requires more than funding; it requires building the conditions for those solutions to grow,” says Sid Roy, Director of Investments at Alberta Ecotrust. “Through this partnership, we’re helping the next generation of Alberta-based climate ventures accelerate and scale their work, strengthen their ability to raise funds, and ultimately reduce emissions.”
Alberta Ecotrust will provide local expertise, connect the program with regional partners, and work with municipalities, accelerators and other organizations to support participating climate ventures.
“Canada's climate future depends on getting early-growth capital to the right ventures at the right stage,” says Spring Co-CEO Caroline von Hirschberg. “Alberta founders are building solutions the world needs, but often aren't able to access the investment they need to scale. This partnership is about closing that gap deliberately and equitably, to realize the full potential of innovations being built across the province.”
Alberta-based climate ventures can join the program through three levels based on their investment stage:
Build: For ventures that are pre-investment and looking to explore their capital options
Elevate - Round Prep: For ventures getting ready to raise a pre-seed or seed round
Elevate - Round Ready: For ventures currently raising their pre-seed or seed round
The deadline for Alberta companies working in climate and cleantech to apply for the Elevate Summer 2026 cohort is May 14th, 2026. Applications are also open for Fall 2026 cohorts. Build applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with the next intake deadline being June 30, 2026.
