Alberta Ecotrust Foundation’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Rod Ruff has been appointed Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2025. Rod Ruff is succeeding Pat Letizia who retired from her role as Chief Executive Officer on December 31, 2024, after 24 years of successful leadership.
Rod Ruff, who has been in Alberta Ecotrust’s leadership team for more than a decade, brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the organization, its community partners and the environmental landscape in Alberta. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping many of Alberta Ecotrust’s most impactful initiatives over the last decade. During this period Alberta Ecotrust has distributed more than $25 million through grants, programs and investments to various community initiatives. This includes becoming a founding member of the Low Carbon Cities Canada Network, creating the Climate Innovation Fund to invest in climate solutions in Calgary and Edmonton and the launch of various programs to reduce emissions from the built environment and improve housing affordability such as the Home Upgrades Program, the Emissions-Neutral Building Information Exchange (known as ENBIX) and the Alberta Ecotrust Retrofit Accelerator Program.
“On behalf of the Board, we want to thank Pat Letizia for her tremendous contributions and for turning Alberta Ecotrust into the organization it is today,” said Mark Bennett and Eric Westrum, Co-chairs of Alberta Ecotrust’s Board of Directors. “Now, as we look into the future, we are thrilled to appoint Rod Ruff as the new Chief Executive Officer. Rod’s deep commitment to Alberta Ecotrust’s vision, combined with his extensive experience in the environmental and climate sectors, makes him uniquely qualified to lead the organization through its next chapter.”
“Our goal at Alberta Ecotrust is clear: to create a low-carbon, nature-abundant future for everyone. Together with our partners, we are at the forefront of innovative programs, funding initiatives and investments that make a tangible difference for Alberta’s environment,” said Rod Ruff, Chief Executive Officer, Alberta Ecotrust Foundation. “I’m profoundly grateful to the Board of Directors and our exceptional team for their trust and support, and I’m eager to build on our momentum to achieve even greater impact.”
For decades, Alberta Ecotrust has thrived through strong partnerships and a shared commitment to environmental sustainability. As environmental challenges become more pressing, Alberta Ecotrust wants to continue to build on this legacy of collaboration and invite partners, whether new or longstanding, to work together to create positive change.
