CANADIAN PARKS AND WILDERNESS SOCIETY – SOUTHERN ALBERTACategory: Environment, Partners
CPAWS is a national non-profit wilderness protection organization. Working in cooperation with the Northern Chapter, the Southern Alberta Chapter of CPAWS is dedicated to the preservation of Alberta’s natural ecosystems and human experience of wilderness.
The Southern Chapter’s goal is to secure the components necessary to maintain or restore ecological integrity on the grasslands and eastern slopes of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. This requires the completion of a proper network of protected areas, set within a properly managed working landscape on which wildlife may thrive, and through which wildlife can move.
CPAWS believes an informed public, active in public debate, is one key to achieving this goal. Its education programs help to assure that upcoming generations understand and appreciate the natural heritage CPAWS endeavors to leave to them.
