EXPLORING EMERGING ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES WITH LOCAL STAKEHOLDERS IN SOUTHWESTERN ALBERTACategory: 2020, Current, Grant, Land Use, Major Project
As Alberta communities grapple with becoming more sustainable, Y2Y will examine how nature-based recreation can be an economic driver by evaluating socio-economic factors before and after the Castle Parks’ creation, and producing a comprehensive report for future action. Y2Y will engage community leaders, catalysing discussions on diversifying local economies while highlighting how nature conservation can help establish vibrant and sustainable communities. Our aim is for communities in the region – and throughout Alberta’s ecologically important Eastern Slopes – to flourish in a context where wealth generated from local resources and natural assets meets community needs while maintaining wildlife, water, and wilderness.
