NAIT’s Alternative Energy Technology program is one-of-a-kind in western Canada and their laboratory contains teaching models for each of the major renewable technologies commonly deployed in the region. Such highly specialized educational programming has resulted in engagement activities that see approximately 900 different participants on lab tours each year.It’s anticipated that the cultural acceptance of renewable energy solutions will be improved by the layered rollout of learning opportunities that engage Albertans at various levels such as elementary, senior high, general public, intermediate training and high level training. With support from the EcoCity Edmonton grant the NAIT Alternative Energy Technology staff aim to interact with 1800 new people in the upcoming year with tour curriculum that is tailored to support the education/interest level of each different audience.
