About

With between 10,000 and 20,000 visitors per week, the Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market has a fantastic opportunity to not only offset significant emissions by installing a solar array, but to also demonstrate to a large audience the benefits and applicability of solar energy in Edmonton. The planned install of 17kW of solar energy will reduce grid-sourced electrical energy by 14,000 kWh in the first year resulting in a reduction of 9 tonnes of GHG emissions! These exciting reductions will be shared via information signs, a TV screen showing real-time and monthly PV system performance, savings and key energy messages, two info booths per year at the market, a display on the web site, info sheets, PV system public tours, and an annual Eco-Solar Home Tour.
