With a looming climate crisis on the horizon, rural Alberta community planting projects are on the rise. The Agroforestry and Woodlot Extension Society (AWES) Eco-Restoration Support Team (Eco-TEAM) is also seeing a rise in requests for support with planning, funding and troubleshooting restoration projects. To meet these requests, they are aiming to increasing their efficiency by adopting new processes, including development of a stakeholder online coordination tool (accessible option: one-on-one staff in-person or over the phone support). To utilize this tool, AWES staff require resources including: salary support to input in-progress project information, basic computers, monitors, tablets and support for travel to work with community individuals in-person throughout rural Alberta (supporting stakeholders with limited access to this online tool).
The Eco-Team are accessible subject matter experts with resources to boost projects from 20% success rate to over 80%. Working throughout Alberta our Eco-Team leverages a vast network of like minded ENGO's, knowledge gained in over 20 years of experience, and matched funding (some conditions apply), to set community project up for success. This program is offered at cost and on a pay what you can basis supporting accessibility for rural stakeholders (indigenous communities, youth groups, newcomers and other less represented individuals).
