The Calgary Climate Hub, with support from Alberta Ecotrust, is working with community partners to plant tiny forests using the Miyawaki Method. This project involves planting up to 10 forests with a focus on areas with a low tree canopy. There are many benefits of urban forestation, including eliminating the heat island effect, increasing property values, providing recreation spaces and improving mental health and wellness. This work will result in a 'How to Plant a Tiny Forest in Calgary' handbook, which can be used by individuals and community groups.
