Fundraising is a mission-critical mandate that requires the close, effective collaboration of the entire organization. The Pembina Institute is looking to improve the process and systems of the Strategic Partnerships group to support more effective fundraising that enables the organization’s climate-focused programs to achieve their environmental objectives.

During a full-day virtual workshop delivered by an external facilitator to the organization’s senior leadership, Strategic Partnerships, Finance and Operations teams on August 14, 2024, Pembina employees identified the challenges and inconsistencies in the organization’s fundraising practices. Important follow-up work is required to channel the teams’ input into action.

A review of the organization’s current fundraising practices, the integration of the workshop participants’ feedback regarding challenges of the current methods and based on best fundraising practices and the execution of a process mapping project will contribute to the collaborative creation of a high-level fundraising process map. This will chart how the organization proceeds from the time of prospective funder identification through the signing of a funding agreement.
