We have had the unique opportunity to participate in the STREAM DNA project led by Living Lakes Canada. Through the World Wildlife Fund's Watersheds Reports initiative, it was found that across Canada, the benthic indicator is one of the most data deficient. One of the watersheds where benthic invertebrate data is lacking is the Bow River Basin, which was one of the focal areas for the STREAM DNA project for 2020/21. eDNA samples were sent to the University of Guelph, which will help to establish a nation-wide database of DNA of macroinvertebrates.
